About me

My name is Juan, and I´m a photographer based in the Principality of Asturias . After several years being a professional photographer, I create Juan de Tury Photography with the aim to show the beauty of the landscapes and natural environments of the region and to offer advice, comments and suggestions to anyone who wants to enter the world of nature and landscape photography.

Academically I have a PhD in Geoligical Eng. and a Superior Grade on Photography.

I am official supplier of the Principality of Asturias as a photographer, providing them with images for the promotion of the county. In addition to holding exhibitions, I also regularly collaborate with popular magazines, agencies, companies and local and national media. Internationally, among others, some of my photographs have been published in specialized magazines such as B&W Black & White Photography, National Geographic, Digital Camera, Traveler, etc.

I also conduct photographic workshops, in which we visited the most beautiful places of Asturias and I explain the techniques he used to carry out my work in any of the formats I work, both analog and digital.

To carry out my work I use both analog and digital cameras of various formats. For analog work I use two medium format Hasselblad 501C and SWC cameras, which gives me impressive image quality, ideal for large prints. I usually use Kodak Tri-X 400 and Ilford HP5+. All the B&W images showed in the gallery were made with these equipment.

I also regularly use DSLR cameras in conjunction with high-end professional lenses for my colour work, especially for low-light photography, taking long exposures, or printing large prints. These cameras have resolutions from 20 Mpx to 50 Mpx, with a high resistance to dust, humidity and water, something quite common in the areas where I work. In addition, I have a whole professional set for photographic retouching, including calibrated monitors and original licenses for processing and editing software.
